Snowshoe hiking

Enjoy the snow-covered mountains and the untouched nature.

Imagine this scene: your foot sinks in soft white snow like cotton wool accompanied by a silent scrunch at every single step. You move on from some kilometers behind still enjoying a fantastic panorama and fairy tale natural spectacle in reward of all the effort…

Similar walk instruments were already used by our ancestors for reaching remote alpine huts or deeryards. For this enterprise, they bound two snow hoops at their feet to get a larger tread surface for not sinking in the snow. A very popular kind of sport has gradually developed from this intelligent experience – the snowshoe walk! The Alpe di Siusi presents the perfect conditions for this beautiful activity, as the wide extended area offers great opportunities to live intensively and very close the “wild” winter landscape. Following your own track you will get several new and unusual insights of the surroundings.

Snowshoe walking is not only in line with the trend but very funny, too! The modern snowshoes feature a well elaborated technique for facilitate walking. The movable binding, iron grips and the low weight of the snowshoes allow a pleasant hike across the virgin snow scenery.

Ski touring

Best snow conditions for enjoyable tours across the winter landscape.

The mountains and rocky massifs around the Alpe di Siusi provide fantastic and singular scenery for ski tour adventures. The ascent is already richly adorned with nature experiences and worthwhile encounters with forest animals followed by a magnificent downhill ski offside the groomed ski slopes, in the middle of deep powder snow country … dreamlike chances and vistas for ski touring enthusiasts!

One tour in the centre of the area of Sciliar is named the “crowning tour”: the well known Sassopiatto! This impressive mountain rises to a height of 2964 meters over the sea level and is shaped with a huge uniform steep rocky shoulder. It is one of the few high peaks of the Dolomites possible to be ascended with the skis.

The tour:
Starting from Saltria take the Zallinger chairlift or ascend across the ski slope with direction Tirler Inn (1750 m). Continue upwards to the Zallinger Alpine Inn (2054 m) and then - across the Fassa Ridge - approach the Plattkofel Hut (2256 m). Here, the impressive steep and inclined rock face of the Plattkofel rises in slightly north-eastern direction.

Toboggan

Everyone can do it – everyone likes it! We invite you to enjoy a funny toboggan ride on the Alpe di Siusi!

Toboggan with all the family on the Alpe di Siusi means to live an exciting adventure day. The alpine ski area also provides several possibilities for this type of sport.

Here are the toboggan runs of the Alpe di Siusi:
Icaro-Monte Piz: 1,4 km
Panorama: 1,5 km
Spitzbühl: 1,9 km
Puflatsch: 2 km
Molignon: 4,4 km
Zallinger: 4,7 km

The pond of Völser Weiher is a further namable place to ride the bob-sleigh. At the idyllic small “lake” near to the Völser Aicha is situated the finishing straight of the natural toboggan run winding along a medium steep forest path down from the Tuff-Alm alpine pasture. The ascent demands little condition, as there are not ascending means of transport at all.

The reward for the effort is the 2,1 km long fast ride - double-seated, prone or two by two - down to the valley.

If you don’t have any toboggan, never mind! Several rentals in the entire ski area offer their perfect service, even on the Tuff-Alm.

Ice-skating

When the winter moves into the land freezing the surrounding landscape, the ice skates come out again.

The regular movements and the breath in of the fresh winter mountain air are very funny and at the same time healthy for the fitness and the circulation due the body’s rich oxygen uptake.

The frozen lakes, like the Völser Weiher are a nature experience of extraordinary beauty. But the artificial ice-rinks in the ski area Alpe di Siusi and the area of Sciliar also offer all the imaginable comforts for the ice-skating enthusiasts. Curling and ice-hockey are very popular leisure activities, too.
